Introduction

Greg Pritchard - Nessun Dorma

Greg Pritchard has been described as  ‘extraordinary’, ‘wonderful’ and ‘surprisingly good’. Piers Morgan described Greg as ‘a little star’ and Stephen Mulhern exclaimed Greg was, ‘A good bloke – a really good bloke!’ Greg is a countertenor with an amazing 6-octave range; his upper register can be considered equivalent to a mezzo-soprano.

Greg’s surprisingly pleasing voice came to world attention in early 2009 when he auditioned for the television competition Britain’s Got Talent. In his first audition, Greg sang a popular aria from the opera La Wally (Ebben, N’andro Lontana).

Greg’s second audition, in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan, was met with a standing ovation by the audience for his rendition of Nessun Dorma, another popular aria from the opera Turandot. The videos of this performance garnered more than 5 million views in the first month on YouTube.

Greg performed the duet Barcelona, written by Freddie Mercury, in the semi-finals. Greg sang both parts of the duet, originally sung by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé, demonstrating some of his vocal range. Unfortunately, Greg was not voted to proceed to the finals of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.

Greg has stated his dream is to be a ‘worldwide performer’ and that he'd like to be part of opulent productions of rock opera music. He has cited musician/performers Meatloaf, Queen (Freddie Mercury) and Sarah Brightman as examples of the type of music he loves. Greg demonstrated his flair for showmanship in his performance of Barcelona wearing a lavishly embellished costume and cape.

Greg is a native Welshman, hailing from the small village of Trostrey. He attended Caerleon Comprehensive School and Pontypool College. Greg was also accepted by the prestigious Italia Conti Academy. Greg is the middle child of three sons. His father passed away suddenly in 2006, an event which Greg has indicated affected both him and his family profoundly. He is 24 years old, having been born on New Year’s Eve, 1984.

Greg has written hundreds of songs of his own, as well as a musical. In addition to singing, he plays piano and clarinet. Greg now has professional management and is looking into working with music writers and producers. He has a base of loyal fans eagerly awaiting his next work!
